Ongoing OUSA Work

Regarding OUSA and the work we’ve been doing, I’ve been continuing work on my section for our Tech-Enabled Learning Policy Paper which we will be finalizing by the end of April, and we’ve also been getting everything wrapped up for the year and organizing transition pieces to welcome next terms incoming SC members. We’ve continued to have in-person and online steering committee meetings, and they have been going well. Aside from this, as the year is wrapping up, the majority of my work is directed at completing the tech-enabled paper, going over body text and edits to have it ready for our final submission.

AGM and A-Team Meetings

We also had our AGM and A-Team Meetings in March where we updated our Brock students in attendance about what went on with BUSU this year. My updates included our Fall OUSA GA held at Brock, our Winter OUSA GA held at Waterloo University, updates on my contributions to our OUSA Tech-Enabled Learning Policy Paper, our Politicians Provincial election tabling event here at Brock, our Pizza with Politicians event at Brock, personal meetings we’ve had with Politicians over the year, and our ongoing advocacy initiatives. Was happy to have the chance to share these updates with our students.

Pizza with Politicians: Student and Political Leadership Networking Event

Our Pizza with Politicians event was a great success with all 4 MPs from our neighbouring Niagara regions, as well as 3 mayors from the Niagara region in attendance. The turnout for the event was really good, and I saw lots of great interactions between the Politicians and our students. Students had the chance to start conversations with Politicians about any topics they were curious about, but we also provided sample questions on table stands to help break the ice and get students comfortable and curious. All the feedback I received from students and politicians was positive, and I hope to see this event brought back again next year by the incoming VPEA.

Other Updates

• Helped to promote our Federal election on-campus voting station

• Attended the GSA end of year Gala to celebrate the graduating class

• Attended an end of year breakfast with our Brock President and Provost to go over how the year has gone
