BadgerFest returns to campus with concerts, events and student giveaways

Brock University students can look forward to a week of concerts, activities and campus traditions as BadgerFest returns from Saturday, Aug. 31 to Friday, Sept. 6.

Organized by the Brock University Students’ Union (BUSU), the annual Welcome Week celebration is open to all Brock students and will include both on- and off-campus events, as well as giveaways and discounted access to local festivals.

This year’s programming features two major music festivals. The festivities begin on Sunday, Aug. 31, when BUSU will provide free tickets for Brock students to attend SomeKinda R&B Festival at Montebello Park in downtown St. Catharines. The R&B-focused lineup includes Mariah the Scientist, Kiana Ledé, FRVRFRIDAY, Eb3n and Benita.

To close out the week, BUSU is offering discounted tickets to Misty City Music Festival, which takes place across two stages and features artists such as Riley Green, Kaleo and The Reklaws. Niagara Region Transit will provide round-trip bus service from campus for Brock students attending both festivals.

In addition to the concerts, BadgerFest will include Community Fair, Movie Night Under the Stars, The Badger Show: magic and comedy night, Pottery Painting, Sexy Bingo with Vanity a la Mode, and more.

"BadgerFest is more than just a Welcome Week, it's where nerves turn into excitement, where strangers become friends, and where unforgettable memories are made," said Fiona Seabrook, BUSU President.

Most events during BadgerFest are free for Brock students. While many are drop-in, some activities have limited capacity and require tickets. A full schedule of events and ticketing information is available at www.badgerfest.ca.

Throughout the week, students can also pick up their Universal Bus Pass (UPass), which provides unlimited transit within Niagara. UPass distribution will take place Sept. 2 to 5 at outdoor tables between the Goodman School of Business and the Student-Alumni Centre. A valid Brock card is required.

To stay up to date on BUSU events, services and announcements, students are encouraged to follow @BrockBUSU on Instagram.
