Aaliyah Ariella, BUSU President
Hello, my name is Aaliyah Ariella, the President of BUSU for the 2026/27 accademic year. I represent and advocate for the views of Brock students while working to increase transparency, accountability, and student engagement across campus. I’m a current student at Brock University who has a passion for leadership, community impact, and student-driven initiatives.
I have also served on the Club Advisory Committee, Presidential Advisory Committee, various student club executive teams, and Brock Senate in addition to my responsibilities. I also started Camellia, a student-run not-for-profit that supports the unhoused populations in the Niagara region. These activities have shown my commitment to service on and off campus and have helped me learn that leadership is tangible, accessible, and founded in the real needs of students.
I want to help make life easy for students. I know how hard it is to juggle academics, activities, committees, planning for the future and still attempt to have fun at the university. I have been the student that felt lost, overwhelmed, shy, not sure how to create connections, and honestly just trying to figure everything out without a step-by-step manual.
Due to that, I want to use this position to highlight the concerns that are not often spoken about by the typical student, whether they are first year, upper year, involved on campus or still trying to find their place. I strive by using my experiences to close the gap between students and decision-makers, to raise the profile of our students’ union and to assist students feel more supported, informed and connected to the opportunities available to them.
My office hours are always open if you wish to stop by, and I am happy to hear any questions or concerns you might have or just talk. If you want to hear my own story maybe for support on anything you may be going through, or just random topics, I am open to that too.
On a less formal note, I have a kitten that is almost a year old, and I don't mind sharing pictures of him and sharing funny stories about him. The way he acts you would assume he was an orange cat… he's not.
I am an open book and look forward to meeting you all. If you see me around campus, please feel free to approach me as well.
