Students attend a free poutine night in Union Station, Free Poutine is part of BUSU's Food First Program

Brock University Students’ Union, (BUSU), in partnership with the Brock University Graduate Students’ Association (Brock GSA),will once again provide free meals on campus, thanks to the Food First Program. .

Food First is part of BUSU and Brock GSA’s shared commitment, offering support to students in need  and hosting regular free food events to provide students with healthy meal options. Last year alone, BUSU distributed 9,100 free breakfasts and provided more than $67,000 in support to students experiencing food insecurity.

This year, Brock students can look forward to a variety of free food events, including returning favourites, Grab & Go Breakfast, Free Hot Breakfast, Free Sandwich bar and Free late-night Poutine. These events will take place on Brocks main campus, as well as downtown St. Catharines, Maryiln I. Walker School of Performing Arts, and are open to all students, both undergraduate and graduate.

“Food insecurity is a growing problem for students, which is why the Food First program is so important,” said Fiona Seabrook, BUSU President. “Students should be able to focus on their studies without worrying about where their next meal is coming from, and these events not only help meet that need, but also provide a welcoming space where students can connect with one another."
