Brock University Students’ Union (BUSU) will once again host Food Security Week as part of the Food First program. This week-long initiative will include free food events for Brock students, Food First Mystery book sale, and offer students a chance to network with influential politicians, during Pizza with Politicians.
“Food Security Week is a large part of BUSU's Food First program, and our on-going efforts to care for student well-being,” said Natalia Rodrigues-Rana, BUSU Vice-President, University Affairs. "Food Security Week events are designed to provide free, warm meals for Brock students so that they can have the energy and time to focus on their studies."
Food Security Week will run Nov. 10 to 14 and include;
Free Grab & Go Breakfast will take place on Tuesday, Nov. 11 and Wednesday, Nov. 12 outside Union Station from 8:45 A.M. until supplies last. Students are encouraged to grab a quick meal on their way to class to help fuel them for their day ahead.
Read 'Em to Feed 'Em Mystery Book Sale Tuesday, Nov. 11 pop by General Brock from 11:30 A.M. to 2:30 P.M. for the Food First Read ‘Em to Feed ‘Em Mystery Book sale. Thanks to the many donations we received in October, the books have been wrapped and are waiting for the next reader. Each book has a description to help you choose one to fit your mood. The Twist? Some books have a hidden surprise inside! All book sales will benefit the Food First Program.
Free Sandwich Bar at MIWSFPA Wednesday, Nov. 12 BUSU will host a free Sandwich Bar at Marilyn I. Walker School of Fine and Performing Arts in the Lobby. Sandwich Bar is provided by Union Sammies and is one serving per student.
Free Hot Breakfast Thursday, Nov. 13. Start the day off right with a free Hot Breakfast. Join us in Union Station from 7:30 A.M. while supplies last. Enjoy pancakes, breakfast sausage, eggs, crispy potatoes, juice, coffee, and fresh fruit. Faculty and staff are also welcome with a $2 donation to support Food First.
Pizza with Politicians Thursday, Nov. 13, Residence 8 7 P.M. – 9 P.M. Students are invited to an evening of engaging discussions and networking with prominent politicians. Enjoy complimentary pizza and refreshments while engaging in meaningful conversations with like-minded individuals.
Students attending each event will have the chance to win one of five Food First prize bundles that include $100 Grocery Gift Card.
BUSU, partners with the Brock Graduate Students' Association (GSA) for the Food First program. Food First aims to address the growing issues of food and health insecurity among Canadian post-secondary students.
