Campus Bookstore to collaborate with BUSU and Community Care

St. Catharines, ON — You’ve heard the expression that charity begins at home? Well that is exactly the reason why the Campus Store is pleased to collaborate with Brock University Students Union’s (BUSU) new food bank and Community Care of St. Catharines and Thorold to support the students of Brock University.

Trudy Lockyer, Director of Brock University’s Campus Store, says “We are delighted to assist in any way possible. We had heard of BUSU’s new venture with the Collabratorium and food bank and looked for an opportunity to help. This seemed like a natural way to spread some holiday cheer and support a couple of local charities at the same time.”
Kelly Butson of BUSU, overseeing the food bank side of the operation, has made an arrangement with Community Care for any overflow donations during this inaugural food drive.  “At this time, we do not have the space to store all the food that we might collect. It only made sense to partner with Community Care, so that anything we can`t store will go to them. It`s a win-win situation.”, she stated.
All faculty, staff and students interested in donating any non-perishable food items are welcome to drop them off starting Monday, December 3. Collections will continue until Friday, December 14 during regular store hours, in order to respond to holiday needs. Let`s spread some cheer, right here at Brock University.
